Ultra•Max® Acousto-Magnetic (AM) Technology
Similar to magnetic tags, AM technology uses two metallic strips that utilize magnetic energy for activation and deactivation. However, AM technology takes the concept further by converting magnetic energy into mechanical vibrations. Detectors for AM tags emit periodic tonal bursts at about 58 kHz, which activates a response signal from any acousto-magnetic tag in a wide detection zone. Any return signal picked up by the detection system will generate an alarm. AM technology has proven its superiority by being able to detect tagged merchandise within foil-lined bags - even in metal shopping carts. It is even effective on products containing liquids and non-ferrous metals, making it the technology of choice for many of the world's largest retailers. |
