Ultra•Max® Acousto-Magnetic (AM) Technology

Similar to magnetic tags, AM technology uses two metallic strips that utilize magnetic energy for activation and deactivation.

However, AM technology takes the concept further by converting magnetic energy into mechanical vibrations. Detectors for AM tags emit periodic tonal bursts at about 58 kHz, which activates a response signal from any acousto-magnetic tag in a wide detection zone. Any return signal picked up by the detection system will generate an alarm.

AM technology has proven its superiority by being able to detect tagged merchandise within foil-lined bags - even in metal shopping carts. It is even effective on products containing liquids and non-ferrous metals, making it the technology of choice for many of the world's largest retailers.

Leveraging on the combined capabilities of AM technology and the extensive industry knowledge and expertise of ADT, Ultra•Max AM technology today boasts of the highest detection rates in the industry, along with these impressive features:

  • False alarm immunity – Reinforces staff confidence in taking action during incidents
  • Wide-exit coverage – Delivers greater flexibility for entrance/exit layouts
  • Wide range of designs – Complement any store décor
  • Sophisticated digital controller technology – For optimum system performance
